BSJ in action...

Just some of the venues BSJ have played since the band formed in the early 90s:
Sheffield University - Trippetts, Sheffield (residency, regular gigs mid-90s) - Swamp Club, Derby - Royal Holloway, University of London - Brewhouse Arts Centre, Burton-on-Trent - Reading University - York University - York Racecourse - The Fishpond, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire - Cutlers Hall, Sheffield - St James Hall, Weybridge, Surrey - Bakewell Town Hall, Derbyshire

Most BSJ bookings are private or corporate functions which for obvious reasons are not advertised here. All public gigs will be posted on this page. The band's most recent public appearances were on their 2-date Derbyshire mini-tour, the first of those gigs - at the Burton Institute, Winster, 21 April 2018 -  "From the Blues to the Beatles: a Brief History of Rock'n'Roll with Live Music" (see News). Glad to report the show went down a storm!

"A lively and entertaining show by very talented musicians. In the second half of the evening the band played for enthusiastic dancers whilst others sat and listened to some great old-style rock'n'roll. Our village hall was packed and left wanting more."- Rod Shiers, Chair, Winster Entertainment Group

"Congratulations to the Back Seat Jivers on an excellent evening. Great blend of history, personal reminiscences and of course music. Really enjoyed it. Saxophone in athletic form, fascinating choice of pieces. Glad to be present at the premier of an evening I hope will be repeated." - Jane Monach

Next afternoon, 22 April, was our first ever Rock'n'Roll Tea Dance in the lovely surroundings of Bakewell Town Hall, with jive tuition by Heather Clements & Hopfrogs Dance School. This gig , the first of its kind at the venue, was also well attended and well received:

"Just want to say a big thank you for giving us such a good time yesterday. What a great sound you make, the Town Hall isn't the easiest place to get the sound right. The set list was just right, I know the experienced dancers who came just loved dancing to your music." - Jude Brown, Bakewell Day of Dance Co-ordinator
